Second Army Region summarizes border clashes: Thai forces fully in control of all areas “within Thailand”

The Second Army Region has summarized the situation along the Thai–Cambodian border following clashes on the morning of 27 December. Heavy exchanges of fire occurred in several areas before a ceasefire took effect at noon. Thai forces were able to fully control and reclaim all areas that they say are Thai territory.

On 28 December 2025, the Second Army Region reported that throughout the morning of 27 December there were clashes involving supporting fire weapons in multiple locations, particularly along the border areas of Ubon Ratchathani and Si Sa Ket provinces. Both sides issued ceasefire orders simultaneously after 12:00 p.m., resulting in an overall de-escalation of the situation.

In Ubon Ratchathani province, at the Chong Bok area, opposing forces used supporting fire weapons and multiple-launch rocket systems from behind Hill 745 during the morning. Thai forces held their positions and responded until the ceasefire order at noon. In the Chong An Ma area, no significant movements were observed, and the ceasefire was also observed there.

Second Army Region: Thai forces fully control all areas of Thai territory

Along the Si Sa Ket border, clashes were intense in the Sam Tae–Don Truan–Phu Phi–Satta Som–Phanom Prasit Thos–Chong Ta Thao areas, with continuous exchanges of fire. Thai forces used counter-fire against opposing positions. In the Satta Som area, one Thai soldier was injured after stepping on a landmine. Although there was no large-scale ground assault, attempts at infiltration were detected intermittently. After the ceasefire, some movements were still observed in certain locations.

In the Pha Mo I Daeng–Huai Ta Maria area, heavy bombardment from the opposing side was reported. Thai forces responded with concentrated firepower in several waves. Several personnel were injured by shrapnel and blast effects. After the ceasefire, troop and vehicle movements were still detected near the entrance to Chong Khan Ma and Wat Kaew.

In the Phu Ma Khuea–Chong Don Ao–Phlan Yao–Phlan Hin Paet Kon areas, opposing forces launched attacks from Chong Don Ao and attempted multiple infiltrations. Thai forces used suppressive fire, and defensive positions remained unchanged after the ceasefire.

In the Chong Sa-ngam area, although no significant ground movement was observed, numerous drones were detected from early morning. Thai forces used aircraft, tanks, and drones to strike targets, and intermittent clashes occurred.

Along the Surin–Buriram border, the situation remained stable. In several areas of Surin province — including Chong Chom, Chong Prae, Chong Rayi, Khana, Ta Khwai, Hill 350, Chong Krang, and Ta Muen Thom — no significant movement was observed, and the ceasefire was in effect after noon. Overall, this involved pressure through long-range fire, with no clear close-quarters assaults. In Buriram province, at the Chong Sai Taku area, the situation was calm and forces maintained their existing positions.

Overall, intense fighting took place from before dawn until noon, particularly along the Phra Viharn–Pha Mo I Daeng–Phu Ma Khuea line and the Chong Bok–Chong An Ma line. After the ceasefire order issued after 12:00 p.m. on 27 December 2025, violence clearly subsided, and the situation moved into a state in which Thai forces fully controlled all areas of Thai territory and successfully reclaimed them.
