Brazil has signed deal with Saab to buy for 36 Gripens: 28 Single Seat Jets and other 08 Two Seat Jets. There are two way for purchase this Jet : (1) purchasing a program cost (booking) and (2) purchasing a real time product ( money go, product come). The booking price for a Jet costs USD 54.8 million but the offered today price is USD 68.90 million/Jet
A delivery product will start from 2019 till 2014. Today technology for air defense system moving from day today but can not attack the aircraft effectively because of (1) GPS reporting a 25 meters of standard error location, the Global mapping system ( Google Map or other satellite maps) doing the same " 25 meters of standard error", thus, there are 50 meters for wrong error location compared to real location/target. Per idea, buying Gripen in 2019 meaning of taking time to identify " Risk" in term of Artillery Air Defense or Laser Artillery or Missile Air Defense as well as to save a national budget ( $68.9m -$54.82m= $13m/Jet)... The government save as much as 13 millions from each Jet!.
